Antique Wakizashi sword in Ornate Mounting
NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon certificated (Extremely Well Preserved certificate)
Swordsmith: MOTONAGA
The blade less than 60cm are categorized as WAKIZASHI apart from "Katana". This is very magnificent and beautiful WAKIZASHI with 41.5cm length blade made by the smith MOTONAGA located in Owari state in late Edo era, Bunka period around 1817. The inscription of the smith name and completion year/month are engraved on both side of the blade tang. A great Fudo Myo-o (or Warrior God) is engraved on the blade. This quality item is offered from our Yokohama Sword Store. Finished with a beautiful waved (Gunome) tempered-line pattern. The blade is registered to higher ranked Tokubetsu Hozon paper "Extremely well-preserved blade" by NBTHK (Japan Sword Preservation Society) The blade comes in a complete ornate mountings including very beautiful open-work hand-guard.
The blade comes with Certificate of NBTHK Japan Sword Preservation Society - Tokubetsu Hozon Paper (Extremely Well preserved sword)

*This number means that the blade is verified and registered as an authentic Japanese sword by the board of education and public safety commission.
