Antique Katana sword in Ornate Mounting
Nambokucho-Muromachi (1370-1440)
NBTHK Hozon certificated (Well Preserved certificate)
Swordsmith: Attribute to So-shu HIROMASA
A quality Katana sword from SAMURAI STORE Tokyo.
So-shu Hiroasa, a renowned swordsmith from the late Nambokucho to early Muromachi era (1370-1440s), was admired for the exceptional artistry of his blades. This blade has no inscription on the tang, but NBTHK officially attributes it to HIROMASA’s work.
The first Hiromasa, a master swordsmith who inherited the esteemed So-shu tradition from Masamune, has few surviving blades, as most existing examples are by later generations from the Bun'an to Hōtoku eras (1444-1452). This blade, however, is NBTHK-certified as Hiromasa's work, with no mention of later generations, confirming it as a first-generation masterpiece.
The blade, displaying the dramatic Hitatsura (entirely tempered) pattern, iconic of Hiromasa from Soshu province, features a slender, deeply curved silhouette that evokes ancient grace and exquisite elegance.
This blade has Hozon paper certification as a "Well-Preserved Sword" from the NBTHK (Japan Sword Preservation Society), highlighting its enduring beauty and historical value.
Comes in a complete set of stunning antique, ornate mounting, including all metal fittings and an open-work Tsuba hand guard finished with gold. A shirasaya wooden holder is also included.
The origami (ancient certificate) issued by the Hon-Ami family comes with.
The blade comes with a Certificate of NBTHK Japan Sword Preservation Society - Hozon Paper (Well-preserved sword)
